Cross-Interconnect Systems Cable Sheath Fault Locator for Handover and Preventive Test

With the full deployment of urban network transformation, many power supply bureaus, construction teams, and design units are encountering 110kV XLPE cables for the first time. Due to time constraints and limited experience, many cables fail the withstand voltage test (10kV/1min). Most outer sheaths use HDPE material, which passes factory DC 25kV/5min withstand voltage tests with leakage currents as low as tens of μA. Post-installation defects typically result from external damage during laying, soil conditions, or cover issues. Operational defects may include termite damage, grounding box moisture, insulation deterioration, or moisture penetration at bifurcation points. These issues are often challenging to locate, especially with deep burial or complex surroundings, potentially creating long-term operational hazards.

Our high-voltage cable outer sheath fault detector operates at 10kV and below, fully complying with Chinese national standard GB50150-2006 for cable sheath testing. It's ideal for handover tests, preventive maintenance, and fault location in cross-interconnect systems. The unit quickly and accurately identifies grounding faults and leakage currents in 10kV-500kV single-core and three-core high-voltage cables, while performing 5kV-10kV DC withstand voltage tests on HDPE and PVC sheaths. This essential instrument is designed for ultra-high voltage cable maintenance by utility operators, engineering firms, and power transmission specialists.
